Description: Iowa City Hospice is seeking a skilled Nurse Manager to join our interdisciplinary team.
Our Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our aide and nursing staff to ensure that all patient care is delivered in a compassionate, safe, and effective manner.
This position supports field staff in the office Monday through Friday between 8 AM-5 PM, and includes a shared after hours support rotation with other leadership.

Here are a few character traits we look for as we add a new member to our team: ability to listen well and verbally communicate easily with people at all levels present a lasting impression of honesty with a kind demeanor and never short of a smile energetic, able to adjust to a variety of work environments and thrives on a challenge Responsibilities: - Manages and supervises a semi-remote staff to ensuring that all policies and procedures relating to patient care are followed - Develops and implement strategies to continually build relationships with staff, care partners, patients and families.
- Assures excellent care and overall efficiency of operations.
- Conducts staff meetings, 1:1 individual meetings and annual performance evaluations of aides and nursing staff to provide development, encouragement and timely feedback that aligns each member with the mission and meets performance expectations.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs and make appropriate staffing adjustments - Collaborate with other managers and healthcare professionals to provide the highest quality care possible - Monitor and maintain compliance with all regulatory standards and requirements - Assures patient records are completed timely, accurately and up to date and ensures staff meet productivity expectations.
Essential Job Functions (including but not limited to): Ensure the delivery of planned, coordinated, interdisciplinary care in accordance with the patient and family’s goals of care.
Ensure team compliance with best practice standards of care, policy,procedures, and Medicare Regulations.
Lead team to meet or exceed Iowa City Hospice clinical outcomes, efficiency expectations and team budget.
Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of clinical systems, processes, and personnel.
Motivate and lead team to provide professional, high-quality patient and family care.
Ensure aide education, training, assignments, and supervision is in alignment with Medicare Conditions of Participation.
Ensure effective use of resources.
Serve as an educational source to staff, care partners and the community.
Adhere to the practice of confidentiality regarding patients, families, staff and the organization.
Ensure implementation of strategic goals Participate in Iowa City Hospice’s success by ensuring access to our exceptional care.
Support and promote Iowa City Hospice’s mission.
Participate in the organization’s quality assessment and performance improvement program.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Enjoying work with a wide range patient needs based on a variety of end stage illness Work to the full scope and capacity of training as they practice complex clinical skills Coordinate patient/family care with the Interdisciplinary Team and health care community as needed.
Communicate with the primary physician regarding patient change in status and pain and symptom control.
Teach and counsel patients/families on care giving techniques.
Work closely with all members of the interdisciplinary team – Physician, Pharmacist, ARNP, Hospice Aides, Social Workers, Music Therapists, Spiritual Counselors, Volunteers, and Bereavement specialists, to identify and coordinate a holistic approach to the individual care needs of the patient.
Facilitate admission into hospice care and educate our community when hospice is recommended and appropriate.
Document observations, treatments, and other pertinent information into an IPad electronic medical records system.
Participate with the entire organization to promote confidentiality, quality assessment, and continual performance improvement.

Requirements: Requirements: Licensure: Current Iowa License as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa.
Education: Masters Degree or Bachelors of Nursing with relevant experience.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of direct care nursing experience at least 1 year which must be in the provision of home care.
(Mandated by Medicare) Proven experience managing and leading a team of nursing staff Strong knowledge of nursing practices and procedures Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with others Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations Available: Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM, plus Administrative Team on Call duties.
