The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a Supply Chain Associate to support supply chain operations on behalf of the Department of Material Services.
Assure compliance with federal and state laws, regent and university policies and procedures, and operating at the highest standards of ethical conduct.
This position will be scheduled 5:00 p.
m.
to 1:30 a.
m.
with rotating weekends and holidays.
This position is performed fully on campus.
Position Responsibilities:
Evaluate, procure, receive, store, and deliver goods and services
Initiate requisitions to procure goods and services at the direction of others
Obtain and verify information regarding sourcing and acquisition options at the request of others
Review contracts for accurate pricing and apply terms and conditions
Receive, properly store and distribute product
Address inventory issues related to the supply chain and suggest models for improvement
Maintain and secure inventory and report issues as needed
Responsible for implementation of marketing strategy or plan
Interact with vendors/suppliers to assure the appropriate goods or services are being procured effectively and efficiently
Interact with internal and external customers, answer questions about orders and shipments.
Reconcile discrepancies and address customer concerns
Maintain inventory/equipment database(s)
Monitor the budget and assist with managing the budget within defined parameters
Advise management on budgetary needs or discrepancies
May provide functional and/or administrative supervision of staff
The Material Services Division at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics provides a comprehensive selection of patient care supplies.
Our goals are to:
Provide reusable and disposable products that are safe for use from an operational and epidemiological basis
Provide quality products at minimal expense and maximum process efficiencies
Encourage centralization of material management functions and accessibility that exceed expectations of staff and patients
Our four areas are: Processed Stores, Mail Services, Uniform Shop and Linen Services.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
6 months – 1 year work experience within a supply management receiving, warehousing, and distribution setting
Experience using Microsoft Office, specific experience using Excel, and electronic inventory management software
Possession of appropriate driver’s license as required and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
Desirable Qualifications:
At least six months experience working within a hospital or multi clinical healthcare setting
Practical familiarity with medical product descriptions and their complementary accessories
At least six months work experience in either a supervisory, work director, or team leader role
Knowledge of HIPPA patient privacy guidelines and Joint Commission and Hospital Safety & Security recommendations pertaining to infection control practices and the safe storage and transport of hospital medical supplies
Knowledge of University of Iowa and Hospital Supply Chain compliances, policies, procedures, and regulations
Experience with PeopleSoft software and Omnicell automated supply cabinets a plus
