Description:
Performs on-site management of Durable Medical Equipment (DME), casting, and splinting
Provides proper fitting of orthopedic DME as well as applies and removes casts and splints for patients
Educates patients on the application, use, care, and expected outcome for DME products provided to them along with insurance and financial responsibility
Inspects and maintains autoclaves, AED, cast saw vacuums, and other equipment; keeping logs as needed
Sterilizes instruments and sponges
Assists physicians in the cast room with the application and removal of casts
Assists physicians with suture removals, wound care, or pin removal
Orders supplies and maintains adequate inventory of supplies
Prepares biohazard waste for pick-up
Actively fosters good relations with payers, suppliers, hospital, and ambulatory surgery center personnel
Main point of contact for vendors regarding price changes, negotiating prices, and vendor changes.
Continue to monitor market for best products and pricing for DME needs.
Monitor changing insurance criteria for ordering DME products and communicate to necessary team members to make pricing and coding changes.
Functions as a team player among all SOC employees, demonstrating willingness to help wherever needed and considering all work to be done as SOC work, not just department work
Assures compliance with the rules and regulations of HIPAA, OSHA, Medicare, Medicaid, and other programs
Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Administration, or Physicians.
Requirements:
Education and qualifications
High School diploma
ATC certification preferred
CPR certified
Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time position.
Days and hours of work may fluctuate between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm
