Position Summary
Interfaces with the administrative and clinical nursing staff to provide leadership in improving and maintaining the deliver of care processes for specific units and/or patient populations.
Job Duties
Adheres to professional and legal standards of nursing practice.
Assists in the development and coordination of unit specific and hospital-patient care, and to facilitate opportunities for staff to improve and expand their skills.
Assists Nurse Manager in the development and coordination of unit specific and hospital -patient care, and to facilitate opportunities for staff to improve and expand their skills.
Collaborates with the Nurse Manager in development, implementation, and evaluation of department/unit Quality Management program.
Collaborates with the Nurse Manager in implementation of department and unit strategic plans as well as planned change to optimize unit functioning.
Develop and implement new equipment and technology training programs.
Reviews new equipment and supplies as needed with sales representatives and medical staff.
Develop, implement, and evaluates staff education and orientation programs based of personnel performance and patient care standards.
Plans and assists with the clinical experience of students in the unit.
Participates in and contributes to hospital/department/unit committees, meetings and/or projects in keeping with organizational/unit strategic goals.
Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of research-based standards, policies, and procedures.
Educates staff about changes.
Participates in the ongoing implementation of current regulatory standards in order to meet state and national agency accreditation.
Practices according to department/unit policies, procedure, protocols, and practice guideline to maintain a safe environment for patient, visitors, and staff.
Provides feedback and support to staff on the unit to assist them to improve their performance.
Serves as a role model for staff by demonstrating clinical expertise when providing direct patient care.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree is required
At least two years experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting required.
Sound background in nursing principles and procedures required.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with people and demonstrated expertise in education and leadership is required.
Must possess current RN licensure in the State of Iowa or compact state is required.
BLS and ACLS certification required within six months of hire.
