The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a Clinical Resource Float Staff Nurse (RN) for the Medical Surgical Services (MSS) division.
CRU Team 4 areas include the following units: Adult Acute Care, Transplant and General Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics, General Medicine, Hematology/Oncology & Urology, Adult Bone Morrow Transplant, Medical Observation, Short Stay Recovery, and Medical Psychiatry.
Our medical-surgical services represent the largest number of nursing opportunities, with more than 260 of our 811 beds assigned to medical-surgical care settings.
In a recent year, our total acute admissions was just more than 36,000 with more than 230,633 acute patient days of care.
Percent of Time: 50% - 100% (20 - 40 hours/week)
Schedule: Open to shift discusion
Location: UIHC Main Campus, CRU Team 4 (Medical Surgical Services Division)
Rotations: Weekend and holiday rotation

Education Required
An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required
Experience Required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
General computer skills are required, including proficiency in managing multiple databases including Microsoft Excel
Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
Desirable Qualifications:
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is highly desired
If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
A minimum of 2 years of inpatient nursing experience, preferably within the last 5 years, is highly desired.
