Contribute to the oversight and delivery of health care services through leadership and management of nursing, clinical services, and operations.
Lead and manage functions to ensure that health services, medical care, medical/health professions education are delivered effectively and efficiently.
Efforts are focused on organizing, managing, evaluating, and improving health care operations in the Department of Oral Surgery, including supporting education and research activities that occur within the clinical areas.
Responsible for the administrative interface and coordination of clinical operations with Hospital Administration and the Carver College of Medicine Clinical Departments.
Financial Management · Develop budget priorities that are responsive to clinic needs and align with departmental and institutional strategies and priorities.
Actively engage with clinic governance in collaboration with hospital and department leaders.
· Provide financial projections and operational recommendations to meet or exceed budget targets.
· Collaboratively develop a staffing plan and monitor staffing costs, manage inventory levels, track supply usage, and develop cost containment strategies.
· Identify creative solutions for staff scheduling and staff flexibility.
· Manage financial and productivity data; review, analyze, and evaluate clinic and nursing performance relative to targets.
Investigate gaps in meeting targets and propose adjustments or solutions.
· Ensure that fiscal goals are clearly understood by staff and that objectives are met.
· Actively monitor budgets in collaboration with department leadership and evaluate performance relative to targets.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
· Participate in developing hospital budgets with hospital and department leadership.
· Assess needs for capital and minor equipment, furniture replacement, and personnel resources.
Submit proposals to departmental and hospital leadership with appropriate justification.
Meet budgetary targets.
· Ensure maintenance and adherence to regulatory standards set by state, federal, UIHC, and University policies and procedures.
· Understand and practice “Lean” standards for clinical operations.
Identify opportunities for clinical operations improvement.

Patient Care/Service Delivery · Organize and lead the delivery of nursing care for designated patient care areas.
· Identify needs, trends, and forecasts to provide patient care.
· Monitor patient volume and ongoing changes in patient diversity, acuity, and complexity.
· Identify trends and determine QA priorities.
· Recommend QA and patient/customer satisfaction strategies.
· Assess care coordination within multidisciplinary team to maximize customer service and continuity of care.
· Develop and monitor plans in coordination with clinic governance and department leadership to enhance patient satisfaction and implement best practices and new models of care/service.
· In collaboration with hospital and department leadership, ensure that clinical operations are reviewed regularly and in compliance with UIHC, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies.
· Oversee and ensure compliance of safety regulations.
· Work collaboratively with department and hospital leadership in review of outpatient health care delivery.
Identify systematic problems with clinical operations and recommend solutions.
· Develop flexible staffing plans and reallocate resources to ensure optimal patient care.
· Investigate directed patient experience concerns and provide follow-up as delegated to ensure patient satisfaction.
· Model and promote the Service Excellence model for patient care and staff satisfaction.
Planning and Goal Management · Interpret, communicate, implement, and monitor goals and objectives articulated in the institutional, departmental and/or divisional strategic plan.
· Develop action plans and provide progress reports to hospital and department leadership for clinical areas that meet strategic goals.
· Collaborate with hospital and department leadership to identify opportunities for process improvement and improved efficiencies.
· Function innovatively to anticipate and solve problems creatively.
· Prepare and/or assist with developing plans to ensure excellent patient experience scores.
· Incorporate feedback in planning and providing services.
Human Resource Management · Responsible for the recruitment in collaboration with clinic governance, hospital and department leadership and training of personnel to maintain an appropriate skill mix and number of staff.
· Supervision of assigned clinical staff.
· Make effective and timely recommendations in matters of hiring, promotion, transfer, and disciplinary action(s).
Make appropriate hiring decisions in collaboration with department and hospital leadership and staff.
· Reviews attendance data, recognizes trends and takes appropriate follow-up with staff.
· Develop and maintain knowledge of University of Iowa policies and Federal laws regarding leave and accommodation processes.
· In collaboration with human resources representative(s), ensure a consistent approach to HR management · Adhere to all UIHC guidelines and labor-management agreements.
· Ensure that all employees are treated with respect and in a manner consistent with university policies related to equal employment opportunity and diversity.
· Provide feedback to leadership, detect performance problems, and provide recommendations regarding corrective action, as necessary.

· Facilitate and foster a collaborative relationship among staff and hospital and department leadership in a positive manner.

Education Requirements Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field.
If Master’s Degree is in related field, Baccalaureate in Nursing is required.
If qualified applicant does not have Master’s Degree in Nursing, the applicant will need to complete an advanced degree in nursing, health care administration, or business administration within five years of beginning this position.
Current license to practice nursing in Iowa Experience Requirements · At least 3-5 years of comprehensive progressive healthcare leadership/administrative experience · Demonstrated skill in leadership/management and experience in clinical practice of nursing · Experience with unit/clinic operations including human resources, financial management, and compliance with regulatory environment with various federal and state agencies and the Joint Commission · Demonstrated ability to lead change · Must be proficient in computer software applications (e.
