The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Downtown Campus intends to hire for one position at either the Imaging Technologist classification or Senior Imaging Technologist, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate.

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Downtown Campus Department of Radiology is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist or an Imaging Technologist.
Under supervision, this position will organize and perform CT procedures to apply x-ray energy and computer processing techniques to assist in physician diagnosis and treatment.
University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown (located at 500 E.
Market Street, Iowa City, IA) is a 194-bed hospital that became part of Iowa’s only comprehensive academic health system on Jan.
31, 2024.
Additional Duties: Completes required continuing education as needed in order to maintain ARRT and Iowa Permit to Practice.
Introduces self, call patient by name takes appropriate clinical histories and explains the CT exam.
Prepares patients for CT procedures by determining technical factors and procedures appropriate for patient's age, and condition, scheduling examinations properly as well as diagnostic exams as needed.
Maintains all equipment by safe, cautious and proper use, reporting malfunctions immediately.
Maintains positive communication with physician offices, and refers any problem to appropriate supervisor.
Maintains records and files, completes log entries, and prepares requests and information for the exam, and provides for any other clerical support.
Operates CT equipment in accordance with established techniques and routines.
Operates CT imaging equipment within the department, practicing appropriate radiation protection and safety.
Performs all exams as ordered in a timely and efficient manner.
Performs computer functions, i.
e.
PACS, RIS, HIS, order entry, post-processing of images.
Performs exams as indicated by the physician's order; communicates any questionable order with the referring physician.
Identifies, accesses, and prepares medication as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
Prepares and administers appropriate medications to include contrast media and barium.
May assist physician with detailed imaging procedures.
Prepares patients for Radiology exams.
Provides for care and protection of patients during procedures, assuming care for the emotional, psychological and physical needs while adhering to The Joint Commission patient safety goals.
Shares on-call status with other technologists within the CT department.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Percent of Time: 100% Schedule: 1st shift, Monday - Friday, rotating holidays Pay Grade: 4 The department will be filling this position at one of two levels.
The Imaging Technologist classification salary is 4, and the Senior Imaging Technologist classification salary is 5.

Senior Imaging Technologist: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Imaging Technologist: Requires Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required.
Certification Requirements (Senior Imaging Technologist and Imaging Technologist) Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.
