As an integral member of the University of Iowa Health Care Marketing and Communications team in the division of Outreach and Engagement, the community engagement coordinator is passionate about our community and state and in building and maintaining strong, trusted relationships with our stakeholders.
You will carry out our institutional goals and strategies through implementation of community engagement initiatives for sponsorships, health care events, community and statewide connections, health literacy, and adult educational programming.
Key Responsibilities Message Development and Implementation Assist with the communications, recommendation, and fulfillment of sponsorship initiatives.
· Support creation of PowerPoint presentations, infographics, annual reports, targeted email communications, and other materials to share with community members, internal partners, and external partners.
· Monitor community engagement email inboxes and phone lines and respond to requests and messages in a timely fashion.
· Support the promotion of outreach opportunities to internal audience, and sharing messaging out with external partners.
· Provide administrative support and may lead virtual, on-campus, and off-campus health education programs, tours, and presentations for community members.
Public Relations Establish and maintain positive relationships with University departments, community businesses and organizations through the delivery of various events, community and STEM education programs and community partnership and sponsorship initiatives.
· Assist with the planning and implementation of virtual, on-campus, and off campus community education programs and tours for community members involving internal faculty, staff, and students as presenters or volunteers.
· Assist in the coordination of and execution of complex collegiate and community education programs and events such as health seminars and webinars, Kids Go STEM, Mini Medical School, and others.
Staff events as needed including some nights and weekends.
· Work collaboratively across Marketing and Communications and UI Health Care departments to optimize opportunities to meet program goals.
Build trust and rapport with internal and external partners and keep clients informed of initiatives, progress, and timelines.
Information Management Create surveys, collect, enter and pull program and attendee data using various analytic tools including Net Promoter Score, Qualtrics, Anthology, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access Database.
· Collaborate with UI Health Care department colleagues to gather and accurately record and report UI Health Care community benefit data.
· Assist in preparing project summary reports, fiscal year-end summaries, and presentations to share our impact and success with constituents and key stakeholders.
· Support collection and maintenance of UI Health Care statewide impact data from internal partners to share with state-elected officials and key constituents to support reputation and gain buy-in.
· Maintain list of community partners and program attendees to share upcoming opportunities and resources with.
· Support the collection and review of UI Health Care community benefit data reported by internal partners.
Strategic Planning Provide input towards the strategic plan for community relations initiatives aligned with institutional and departmental goals.
· Support development, implementation, and tracking progress towards strategic plan for community and sponsorship initiatives aligned with institutional and departmental goals Financial Responsibility Present recommendations on community sponsorships requests to leadership Offer input for community relations and sponsorship budget planning and monitor budget resources each fiscal year Create budget summary reports for community relations and sponsorship initiatives Supervision/Leadership May provide assignments and guidance to student employees Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Relevant experience in public relations, communications, or marketing, preferably in an educational setting.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills; detail-oriented; ability to coordinate, track, and prioritize multiple projects or tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Compassionate and culturally responsive; maintains an ability to work with internal and external individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends, when needed.
Ability to travel in surrounding geographic area; and hold a valid driver's license, plus the ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standards.
Desired Qualifications Experience collecting and using data to drive decision-making.
Ability to positively interact with diverse populations while representing UI Health Care to internal and external constituents.
Ability to learn new technology and adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment.
